PRE-KINDERGARTEN ROUND-UP

Balko Public Schools will be pre-registering

Pre-Kindergarten students for the 2016-2017 School Year on:

May 16, 2016

5 p.m. – 7p.m.

Parents must bring the child’s Birth Certificate, Social Security Card 

and

a Current Immunization Record 

at the time of enrollment.

Mrs. Flowers will be available to visit with you about your child’s first year of school

BALKO ALUMNI & FORMER STUDENTS ASSOCIATION

Welcome to the 2016 Balko Biannual Alumni Reunion to be held Saturday, May 28, 2016, at the Balko school cafeteria. Festivities will begin at 6:00pm. Cost of meal: Adults $10, children ages 9 - 4, $5 and ages 3 and under, no charge.

Honored Class Years will be those years ending in 5 and 6 (example) 2015 and 2016. Hope to see some of those classes celebrating 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 years.

Oklahoma Girls State 

Applications

Oklahoma Girls State is held on the campus of the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK.  If you should be chosen as a delegate to Oklahoma Girls State, you attend the session from May 29, 2016 through June 3, 2016.  Patriotism is a major part of Girls State.  All delegates will be required to salute the flag of the United States of America.

 

The Girls State Program is structured with the following objectives in mind:

-        -  to develop leadership and pride in American citizens;

         -  to educate young women about our system of government;

        -   to instill a greater understanding of American traditions; and

        -  to stimulate a desire to actively participate in our government processes.

Tri-County Youth Trips - Juniors

Deadline: January 25, 2016

Applications for the 2016 High School Junior Youth Trips competition sponsored by Tri-County Electric Cooperative (TCEC) are now being accepted. Applications are due January 25, 2016. Ten qualified applicants plus two will be interviewed for the opportunity to serve as TCEC delegates on the trips. Selected students will be interviewed by independent judges the evening of Monday, February 8, 2016 . Winners will be notified that evening. 

 

Three students will be selected to receive the Gold Award, which is the Washington, D.C. Youth Tour. Two additional students will be selected for the Silver Award, which is the Cooperative Youth Leadership Camp in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. TCEC pays transportation, lodging, meals and other incidental costs incurred with all trips. Students are responsible for souvenirs and extra personal items they may need during the trip.
